Even with the passage of the new health care bill, the debate continues. Republicans and Democrats do not see eye to eye on the issue at all. Democrats want government-run universal health insurance while Republicans are fighting for privatized health insurance. If Republicans win majority vote in the White House during the midterm elections, the current bill is in trouble.
If the system is not reformed then we will continue to have the problems that we have right now. Millions of Americans will go bankrupt each year due to medical bills alone. Many Americans will lose their lives over diseases because they cannot afford to be insured. No one should have to go without health care. Prices will continue to rise just for the benefit of private insurance companies.
It is clear that reform is needed and it is in the best interest of the country for everyone to be required to have health insurance. In the long run it will keep costs down and reduce the deficit America is currently in. Of course, it will also help millions of Americans get the prescription drugs they need in order to stay healthy.

I agree with you. Health care reform in this country is certainly needed. Currently my mother isn’t working and she is paying over $600 a month for cobra insurance just to keep it. With many Americans losing their jobs today, they are forced to pay the high premiums for cobra insurance. Because the fees are so high, many have to choose whether they are going to pay the bills or keep their insurance. It’s sad that people are only concerned about their own political interests instead of helping people out. I never thought the day will come that so many people would put their own interests first over helping other human beings.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting post, and the implications you've stated are very critical. I hope that the government run universal health care insurance comes to passage. I don't think that privatized health insurance is affordable, which is why many people don't have it or either go into debt trying to pay for it. I think that a better health care system will benefit American society in ways we can't imagine. Even if all of us will have to pay more in taxes, it will be worth knowing that everyone can get the medical care that they need.
